Tennis season ends with tourney setback

The Hanover College women’s tennis team’s fall season came to an end with a 5-3 loss to Anderson University in the first round of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament.

The match was held, Saturday, Oct. 13, at the West Indy Racquet Club in Indianapolis, Ind.

Hanover opened with victories in two of the three doubles matches. Anderson, however, rebounded with wins in four of five completed singles matches to advance in the six-team event.

Junior Danielle Miller (Fairway, Kansas) and freshman Allison Poston (Attica, Ind.) held off the Ravens’ Courtney Postmus and Sylvia Schering, 9-7, at No. 1 doubles.

Freshmen Alexis Taylor (Frankfort, Ind.) and Kelsey Jones (Hanover, Ind.) combined for an 8-3 triumph against Anderson's Tara Akers and Ashlan Millikan at No. 2.

Taylor posted the Panthers’ sole victory in singles play. She defeated Schering, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 2.

Hanover caps its fall campaign with a 5-6 record. The Panthers finished tied for fourth in the Heartland Conference standings with a 4-4 mark.
