Franklin clips Panthers in HCAC match

Hanover College’s women’s tennis squad lost to Franklin College, 7-2, in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference clash, Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the Zeddies Tennis Center.

Junior Danielle Miller (Fairway, Kansas) and freshman Alexis Taylor (Frankfort, Ind.) earned singles victories for Hanover, now 4-5 overall and 3-4 in the Heartland Conference.

Miller defeated Franklin’s Heather Pasek, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 1. Taylor outlasted Bethany Harris, 3-6, 6-4, 12-10, at No. 3.

Junior Amanda Learned (Noblesville, Ind.) and freshman Allison Poston (Attica, Ind.) each pushed singles matches to three sets before falling.
Poston lost to the Grizzlies’ Adrian Gillaspy, 5-7, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 4. Learned was beaten by Chelsea Howell, 3-6, 7-6 (5-0), 10-2, at No. 6.

Franklin opened the match by sweeping three doubles matches.

Hanover seniors Ashton Kelsay (North Vernon, Ind.) and Paige Spalding (Louisville, Ky.) were edged by the Grizzlies’ Chelsea Howell and Rain Tuley, 9-7, at No. 3.

Franklin improved to 9-1 overall and 5-0 in the HCAC with the win.
