Hanover hosts first match at Zeddies Center

Hanover College’s women’s tennis team hosted Oakland City University in the first contest at the Panthers’ new Zeddies Tennis Center. The match was played Tuesday, Sept. 11.

Hanover opened with one victory in three doubles matches, then notched wins in three of the six singles matches to fall short in the 5-4 setback against the Oaks (1-1).

Senior Ashton Kelsay (North Vernon, Ind.) and sophomore Stephanie Kirk (Milan, Ind.) paired for an 8-4 win against Oakland City’s Virginia Gerkin and Lenzie Kerchief at No. 3 doubles.

In singles action, junior Danielle Miller (Fairway, Kansas) handled the Oaks’ Lindsey Malin, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1.

Freshmen Alexis Taylor (Frankfort, Ind.) and Allison Poston (Attica, Ind.) each tallied singles victories for the Panthers (1-1).

Taylor earned a 6-0, 6-2, win against Oakland City’s Jennifer Schnarr at No. 3. Poston swept Gerkin, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6.
